NFN LIVE ONline this Sunday, Aug 16: FIVE performers, ONE great cause!

Listen for Life's award-winning monthly Notes for Nourishment series continues Live, ONLINE, during the pandemic. Our next concert is THIS SUNDAY, August 16, @ 1pm PDT (California USA timezone) but you can enjoy it and participate from anywhere in the world. .........                              And that's fitting, because the chosen beneficiary for this month's concert donations, "Our Daughters International", is helping to support, heal, and restore female victims of human trafficking, which is itself a global problem, powerfully impacting the lives of individuals and families in every community.

Award-winning teenage violinist Pierce Wang, who has performed on previous Notes for Nourishment concerts, has assembled four other young but accomplished classical musicians for this broadcast concert, each performing from their own community. We asked Pierce to share the story of how these 5 musicians came together to benefit this important cause that they chose. (see below, for his response to that question!)

Meanwhile, for more info on our series, visit NotesForNourishment.org and ListenForLife.org

Please mark your calendar for SUNDAY, AUGUST 16, and plan to join us!

This is from Pierce Wang, who organized this August 16 concert:

"With the arrival of the pandemic at end of the 2019-20 Spring semester, many were anticipating the unfortunate cancellation of summer camps, resulting in a summer where activities were limited. However, the Heifetz International Music Institute took the opportunity to adapt and explore the virtual world for all it had to offer. Coming from an online school myself, I was excited to explore the possibilities for a summer camp that way as well. Though we students were all very much disappointed about to our inability to congregate on the Mary Baldwin campus as we would have done in previous years, we returned to Heifetz (virtually) because we wanted to make the best of our time during this summer.
Violinist Eunha Kim was one of the first people I ever met in the Institute. Though we didn't talk much at first, her positive energy was infectious throughout the Heifetz communication classes. I connected with violist Adam Savage through the Chess social circle, and despite my ineptitude in the world of chess, we became good friends. Finally, I met cellist Manou Chakravorty through my chamber music
assignment where she so generously volunteered herself to sub in to our quartet when our previous cellist was unable to participate.
In this August 16th NFN program, Manou will also be performing alongside one of her close friends, violinist Emily Hauer, who is also an "alum" of the From The Top radio show on NPR.

Going back to the start of the summer, I knew I wanted to organize a benefit program on the NFN series. However, at the time, I did not know who I was going to invite to perform. Upon meeting these wonderful people and musicians, that choice came with much more ease. I am honored to be joined by each of them in a performance that will support the important work of Our Daughters International, helping to heal and restore the female victims of human trafficking. We all felt strongly about this cause and wanted to donate our efforts to raise both awareness and funds - hopefully worldwide! "
