Meet the Performers
The Pianist: Donna Stoering
Donna Stoering is a world-renowned pianist and the founder/artistic director of LISTEN FOR LIFE. She will perform for us on Sunday, March 19th at 3pm at St. Joseph Basilica, 1109 Chestnut, Alameda.

Internationally-renowned social entrepreneur, keynote speaker, Marshall Scholar, and Artistic Ambassador for both the UK and the USA; award-winning recording artist, concert performer, television host, presenter/producer, author and educator; Artist in Residence at Oxford (St Edmund Hall); has been the subject of one-hour interview specials on BBC, NPR, PBS affiliates and the national networks of Eastern Europe, South America and Asia. Received 2013 Woman of Legacy award from Powerful Women International for the founding/impact of Listen for Life worldwide.

Meet the Performers
The Violinist: Tom Stone
We are very fortunate to have Tom Stone, an internationally successful violinist, perform for us on Sunday, March 19th at 3pm at St. Joseph Basilica, 1109 Chestnut, Alameda.
Tom Stone was born in Chicago where he studied music with Hilel Kagan. At age 16 he attended Tanglewood where he coached with Eugene Lehner of the Kolisch Quartet and played in an orchestra under the direction of Leonard Bernstein. After this experience his focus on music became increasingly intense. Mr. Stone went on to pursue musical studies at the Eastman School of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music. His major teachers have included Donald Weilerstein, Zvi Zeitlin, Gyorgy Sebok, and Bonnie Hampton. Mr. Stone has also performed in masterclasses for Issac Stern and members of the Amadeus, Emerson, Juilliard Quartets and LaSalle Quartets. He has performed with many distinguished artists including Awadagin Pratt, Leon Fleisher, Zuill Bailey, Jon Nakamatsu, Ian Hobson, and Donald Weilerstein. During his 20 years as a founding member of the Cypress String Quartet, Mr. Stone performed in major musical venues all over the world including the Kennedy Center, Library of Congress and the Ravinia Festival. He also commissioned and premiered works by George Tsontakis, Jennifer Higdon, Benjamin Lees, Philippe Hersant and Elena Ruehr. Mr. Stone has served as artistic director of the Centrum Chamber Music Festival and has worked closely with educational and arts organizations throughout the country to conceptualize and implement some of the nation’s most innovative educational programs. He has also served as treasurer of the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, board member of Chamber Music America, and panelist for the San Francisco Arts Commission. Mr. Stone plays on a violin made in Cremona, Italy by Carlos Bergonzi in 1734.

Meet the Performers:
The Cellist: Amy Leung
Amy Leung is one of the three incredibly talented individuals who will be performing for us on Sunday, March 19th at 3pm at St. Joseph Basilica, 1109 Chestnut, Alameda.
Cellist Amy Leung has performed chamber music throughout the US and in Europe, Israel, Hong Kong, China, Australia and Guatemala, and has appeared in concert with the Emerson and Guarneri Quartets, the Kennedy Center Theatre Chamber Players, Washington Bach Consort and Washington Musica Viva. She was winner of the Kranichsteiner Interpretation Prize at the International Music Institute, Darmstadt. She was Associate Clinical Professor at the George Washington University and has taught at the University of Virginia and the University of Utah. She has given master classes and lecture/demonstrations at the Beijing Central Conservatory, Georgetown University, Hong Kong University, Hong Kong Urban Council, ASTA/ESTA International Workshops in Graz and the Duke Ellington School for the Arts (Washington, DC). A graduate of the New England Conservatory, she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree as a Guarneri Fellow at the University of Maryland. Born in San Francisco, Amy moved back to the Bay Area in 2010 to raise a family. During the summer she performs as a member of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

MARCH 19 @ 3pm "The Carpenter's Trio" - honoring the "Name day" saint of our host venue (Basilica of St Joseph), come hear the dynamic sounds of wood-crafted instruments in the hands of internationally renowned masters, Tom Stone, violin and Amy Leung, cello, with NFN host Donna Stoering, piano.
Beneficiaries: SJBalameda.org and their projects in the community, and Alternatives in Action (a non-profit alternative high school where students learn, among other skills, to do creative trades and crafts with wood and other materials).
