Flicka, Kitka, Donna and ...... new reindeer names? Open and see....

Why invest an hour of your day to experience a unique Winter Holidays music event online, with Flicka (Frederica von Stade), Kitka, Donna and more?        Answers below!

Top 5 reasons why you don’t want to miss LFL's unique winter-holiday online concert on our award-winning Notes For Nourishment series:

 1) The 25+ renowned international performers who have personally contributed or collaborated on 14 special video performances for this around-the-world music party!!

 2) The chance to learn about, and musically experience, some of the diverse faith traditions that celebrate during December

 3) Meet (and hear) award-winning instrumentalists and vocalists from USA, Eastern Europe, Central America, Israel, Palestine, and more!

 4) Take only one hour from the busy holiday rush and experience joy, peace, calm, and inspiration for your life!

 5) It's a perfect opportunity to invite long-distance friends and family of all ages and generations to join you online or in person for a watch party! The musicians are a mix of classical and world music artists so will appeal to listeners and fans of both genres.

And here's why you can't miss it:
Even if you already have other plans scheduled during the LIVE GLOBAL BROADCAST premiere of this video concert on our NFN YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwGL8qIvuZCgCquLTUc_7pQ
Sunday, December 19th, @ 1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern and 21:00 UK or 22:00 Western Europe

you can STILL watch it after that date, at any time that suits you, at the same place:
on our LFL NotesForNourishment channel on YouTube:

(just look for the December 19 2021 program among the videos listed).

In a previous blog post we mentioned that we might use a different broadcast platform this time, requiring registration in advance, and some of you very kindly did register as requested (including some who donated towards our production costs as well- extra big thanks!)

But we ultimately decided to stick with our YouTube channel for now, so no more registrations required - just COME! Everyone! (For those of you who prefer FB to YouTube, we hope to also stream the premiere of the video concert at the same time from our NotesForNourishment page on FB - https://www.facebook.com/notesfornourishment - but quickly come join us on YouTube if that doesn't work for any reason)

Donna (Stoering) will be performing and hosting the one-hour program, and just a couple of hints: Special guest-star performance appearances will include Frederica von Stade (Flicka) and KITKA, the Bay Area-based women's choral group that has been a very popular feature on NPR programs nationwide!

As with all our Notes For Nourishment concerts, optional donations can be made during the broadcast - this concert's donations will help NFN's parent organization, www.ListenForLife.org to sustain itself and thrive while being the catalyst and incubator for NFN concerts and many other important projects/programs in your communities and beyond

We have lots of 2022 plans, news, MFM progress, TV opportunities, and donor benefits to share with you at another time, another post - but meanwhile, Thanks SO much to those who have remembered us in your end of year donations thus far! and thanks to all of you for being a part of our growing LFL global community, making music that matters by empowering musicians and music listeners who have a heart of service!

A short recap on our first 365 days of the Notes for Nourishment concert series!

Notes for Nourishment’s monthly benefit concerts began one year ago this month, in the gorgeous acoustics and ambiance of our host venue, the Basilica of St Joseph in Alameda, California. Since then we've raised over $11,000 for charitable causes and featured world-renowned artists from 15 different countries and cultures!

Background and Concept: The Notes for Nourishment series is a project of the global nonprofit, Listen for Life. The concept is simple but unique: internationally renowned artists of all cultures/countries, donate their time and talents to nourish their audience; listeners in turn donate funds to benefit nonprofits that nourish the hungry, homeless and hurting in the community and beyond.
Goals: Our primary goal is to serve great artists who have generous hearts, by giving them a ready-made opportunity to make a greater difference for the causes they care about. Secondly, we want to make it possible for music listeners of all ages and demographics to get the rare opportunity to hear these great artists, for free, in 1-hour, informal, family-friendly programs. And as the monthly series continues to grow a core of loyal, regular attendees from across a large economical and geographical region, we are building, energizing and healing a community, through music.
Achievements in first year:
During our first year of concerts we've already featured master musicians from North and South America; Western, Central and Eastern Europe; Palestine, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Lebanon, Taiwan, Israel, and China!

Thanks to the generosity of our performers and their appreciative listeners, all of these concerts have collected a total of over $11,000 in donations for a wide variety of nonprofits and causes, including Alameda Point Collaborative, Alameda Food Bank, Project Open Hand, Welcome the Stranger (a refugee settlement/assistance program), Bay Area Music Project, Slavyanka, Mercy Retirement and Care Center for Seniors, OIGC, Asian American Women Advocates, Midway Shelter, SAVE in Fremont, Asian American Donor Program, SJND scholarships, SJB projects, MusicaMarin, & Alameda Education Foundation.
Coming up:
Future beneficiaries (from upcoming months' concerts) include Girls Inc, Alzheimers Services of the East Bay (ASEB), a women's shelter in Oakland, national refugee services organization, Veterans' music therapy services, and many more.
We've already arranged wonderful, internationally-renowned artists and monthly programs for the rest of 2017 and beyond - for example, some upcoming dates are May 21, June 25, July 30, August 27, September 24....
Expanding the concept
Musicians and music-listeners alike are loving this concept, and LFL has had invites to replicate the series with partner organizations in other cities and countries. The plan is to launch our first such collaborative effort within a few months, in San Jose, California, together with Barbara Day Turner and her San Jose Chamber Orchestra players and their colleagues.
Announcing LFL's fundraising campaign for the NFN project:
Notes for Nourishment now needs to be the beneficiary of some donated funding itself, to help us cover the many incidental costs that arise when keeping a successful, high quality performance series going on a regular monthly basis (marketing, publicity, printing costs, etc). Then we can ensure that the maximum amount of donations in the concerts go directly to the beneficiary organizations each month. We're also trying to get videos made of each concert and launched on our new NotesForNourishment YouTube channel so that all of you around the globe won't miss any of the performances!

Can you help? No amount is too small. Listen for Life is hosting a One-Month fundraising campaign right now to celebrate its 19th anniversary worldwide, and it's also participating in #EastBayGives one-day online event on May 4th!

  • OR visit PayPal.com ANY day of the yearm and put in    Donations@listenforlife.org  as the beneficiary
